Unenviable Saga…

Karmen had this great idea of joining forces in a blog to help keep friends and family apprised on our Mom’s situation.  In case anyone who’s reading this doesn’t already know, Mom was put in the hospital this last Saturday 2/23/08 with acute pain in her upper right abdomen.  After a number of tests, the doctors determined the pain was from a ruptured blood vessel in a 10cm mass on her adrenal gland, which has metastasized to her liver.

The bottom line, our Mom has cancer.

We don’t yet know her status or what the course of action will be for her to combat the cancer, so we’ll take it one day at a time.  When we learn more we’ll update the blog.

Karmen wrote a great post in her blog about this, and I have to agree with every her word.  The thought of losing our Mom is terrifying and we’re not ready.  I don’t think you can ever be ready to lose the keystone of the family.

I ask for your thoughts and prayers to be with our Mom and Mike during this difficult time, and for God’s help for the family seeing this through.

  1. I talked to Betty today. She seems to have a good attitude (at least when she’s not on the toilet). A positive attitude is incredibly important. Easy to say but hard to do. She’s in our prayers.
