Mom’s Oncologist appointment was at 1 today and she had a whole litany of things to talk with her about.  I was curious as to how it went but when Mom didn’t answer the phone today at 4, I assumed something must be up because she’s always home for the Judges and Oprah shows.  I tried again at 5 and she still wasn’t answering.  Beth hadn’t heard from her either.  Finally, around 6, Mom called to tell me she is in the hospital for dehydration and monitoring.   Her sodium levels are very low right now although her potassium level has come up into the normal range so that is good news at least. 

She discontinued the chemo meds last week when she started getting really sick.  The verdict is still out as to what is causing the nausea and diarrhea.   There are only 2 radiation treatments left and she’s done with those – she’s happy about that.   Hopefully, going off the pills and finishing radiation will let her start feeling better so she can eat and drink again.  

You have to know it’s serious when she can’t drink a Diet Coke.
